Nanahyakuichi Public Middle School

Nanahyakuichi Public Middle School (公立漆佰壱中学校, Kouritsu Nanahyakuichi Chuugakkou) is an educational institution that Nadeko Sengoku is enrolled in.  

Many students of the school were involved in Deishuu Kaiki's swindling operations which involved selling fake magic charms. Koyomi Araragi and Sodachi Oikura also attended this school when they were in middle school. 

Background

Nanahyakuichi Public Middle School operates like a typical middle school, and is depicted having a shoe locker room with an open ceiling and an unusual pair of staircases that go from first floor to each of the two upper floors of the building.

"Magic Charm" incidents

During Deishuu Kaiki's previous visits in the town where the school is located, he began selling magic charms to the middle schools in the area, including Nanahyakuichi Public Middle School and Tsuganoki 2nd Middle School. The charms were sold for a low price, but had no usefulness, aside from a lesser known case of an actual oddity attacking one student, namely Nadeko Sengoku, after a schoolmate used a charm to target her as a result of a failed romance. The student body of the schools involved eventually developed a stigma amongst the conman, despite the fact that the swindling case had little financial impact to its victims. It even came to a point that the students of Nanahyakuichi blame Kaiki for every single problem in the school, no matter how unrelated it was to the swindling incident.

The magic charm fraud did not directly affect the school, but the incident indirectly caused the sentiments of the students of Nanahyakuichi Public Middle School, particularly in Class 2-2 where Nadeko belongs, to surface, when the charms was used as a tool to do whatever a student wants to do to another. In the present, Class 2-2 maintains a peaceful outward appearance, although the tension between the students is apparent to everyone, even to Nadeko, who is currently the representative of Class 2-2.
