  • Hey, I saw you undid my edit to "Second Season Episode 07: Mayoi Jiangshi, Part 1", I just inferred that "Cultural References" should be in its own section from what was said in "References to other media in Monogatari Series", was I mistaken? I'm just a newcomer trying to contribute, any guidance would be appreciated!

    • Kumowoon,

      No need to apologize. You are a new contributor and there is information you simply will not know. Personally, I find it very encouraging that you accept when your changes are reverted and are willing to reach out with questions. I have encountered many editors who behave far less gracefully.

      I think the key phrase here is "better overall portrayal". How is the Araragi Matriarch portrayed in the anime? I think there are two moments where we see her eyes (don't quote me on that), and we have included both in the gallery section of the article. Most of the time the audience is only shown the lower half of her face; which is what the profile image tries to convey.

      Please let me know if I have been at all unclear.

      Best,

      Whistle9

    • Hi Whistle9,

      Ah, okay gotcha, I'll keep that in mind. Some wikis' guidelines call for the best image available that is basically as close to a passport photo as possible despite them being nearly non-existent due to the way some characters are always intentionally partially obscured in visual adaptations, I just assumed something similar would apply. But I agree that the silhouette is a better representation of how she is portrayed overall, or alluded to with a air of mystery (?) throughout the series.

      Thanks for all your help and patience,

  • Hello, Whistle9,

    I'm a member of Fandom's Wiki Managers team, and I'm here to offer my collaboration with your wiki.

    My role is to provide help and advice for any doubt your community may have regarding the management of the site, its tools, to fight vandalism, etc; and to serve as a liaison with a direct line of contact to full-time Fandom Staff.

    My presence in the site is merely as a consultant and helper, I will not take part in the decision-taking of the community (except by giving guidance if users request it), and the direction of the site is still in the hands of the community and the administration team.

    Please don't hesitate to contact me if you require help in any of these aspects.

    Regards.

  • Some user changed the Hanamonogatari (anime) page with a Like Mike poster again. It's this one: Itslikeajunglesometime

    Most likely it's the same person who added the same file yesterday on Aug. 29, 2019. I already undo'ed the edit and can you block the user again? And the file should be deleted once more too. I just have no idea why there's activity like this now.

    • Done.

      What can you do? Idiots are going to be idiotic.

    • One thing we can do is stay active. I've seen many wikis that are no longer active and vandals ravage the wikis.

  • I can't help but notice inconsistencies between the romanized titles in the soundtrack collection I acquired and the ones on that page .

    Example:

    Wiki page: Reigou no Hou ga Ooi Kisoku

    File from torrent: Reigai no Kata ga Oui Kisoku

    Could you maybe get someone to recheck the title translations/romanizations?

  • Hi Whistle9, I just wanted to know why you undid my edit. I did made that edit because the page doesn’t exist.

    • Lelouch Di Britannia,

      Sorry about that, I really should have left a comment when I undid the edit. Rather bad manners that I did not.

      Simply put, the reason I restored the link is because we plan to have an article for Suruga's grandmother eventually. When the template was first created, most of the the extended family was populated with red links. Suruga's grandmother still has not quite made it, but the character should get her own article in the future.

      Hope I've been clear!

  • Hi Whistle, it's been a while.

    Just wanted to suggest some additions to the navigation bar I think should be there to be more up to date.

    -Add Zoku Owarimonogatari under the Anime Adaptations tab

    -Add a Manga Tab next to Novels and Anime that links to the Manga Category

    Thanks again,

    -Simok123

    • Simok1234,

      Sorry for the delay. The top navigation has been updated.

      Unfortunately there is only room for four custom tabs, so I decided to shuffle the Manga articles under the Anime header.

      Please let me know if you think there is a better place for the information.

      Best,

      Whistle9

  • Hey, I noticed that the links of the main topics on the main page(Template:Header) all link to the category pages(e.g. Category:Novels) instead of the article pages(e.g. Novels)

    Don't you think it's better to have the article pages linked? They are much more easy to read and have order(novel reading order for example)

    I wouldv'e changed this myself(as these front page templates are unprotected - it's probably best that you will protect them), but I don't edit on this wiki, so I don't want to interfere.

    • Hi DaGreed,

      The reason we use the category pages is because they present everything in relation to a "category" in one go. We think this is easier for someone who is looking for something specific, and for a new fan of the series, lets them look at what they find interesting.

      Aside from that, we also do not have individual articles for every item included in the header template, so using categories makes the template more uniform.

      Finally, there are links to the articles proper all over the wiki, while links to categories are less prevalent, and can be easily m missed.

      I hope this makes our reasoning clear, and thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns.

      Best,

      Whistle9

    • Thanks for the reply,

      I see your point but, would it be reasonable to add some information in the category pages - namely the main topic page.

      For example, in the Category:Novels page there can be one line stating "the main article for this category is Novels"?

      Just a thought.

      I personally get a bit disoriented with category pages as they only mean to "show similar content to the current page"

    • That is not at all a bad suggestion!

      I will try and make a few changes in that vein this weekend.

  • Hello! I'm not a regular editor of this anime Wikia, but I usually hop around a bunch of them adding official OPs e EDs translations. Sometime ago, Aniplex of America released the Bakemonogatari series Blu-Ray and they contained an official translation for the TV Size version of the songs Staple Stable, Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, Kaerimichi, Ambivalent World, Renai Circulation and Sugar Sweet Nightmare and I was wondering if I could add them to the wikia.

    • Sure thing! Would be much appreciated.

    • Hello! I jumped here quickly to say that I renamed the song "Kimi no Shiranai" to "Kimino Shiranai". My sources are the official Music Video posted on YouTube by supercellVEVO and the US album releases of "Today is a Beautiful Day" by supercell on iTunes and Spotify and the original album release also on Spotify who all list it as "Kimino" instead of "Kimi no".

    • Hello again. I've finished adding the official lyrics and videos taken from the Blu-ray, in case you want to check anything. The other series have also been released in Blu-ray by Aniplex of America, but i'm still currently watching them and won't be adding the lyrics yet. Thanks for letting me edit those and I hope to hear from you soon.

    • Thank you for your contributions, P.H. CP. It all looks good, but just to let you know, I probably will go in and change the formatting a bit when I have the time. Unfortunately, tabbers do not carry over very well to Wikia/Fandom's mobile format.

  • Hey, I made a list that contains every track that is used in each episode. Since I don't really have any experience with the wiki I thought I would float my ideas before starting to edit. I was inspired by this page on the evageeks wiki (I'm open to better suggestions for a page name) and this is my current plan:

    Create one page that contains the whole list with one table per episode. I think it would be good to make the tables collapsed by default for easier navigation but it would also be useful to have one big page (you could search for every occurence of one specific track for example). For that you would need a collapse all/expand all button. Here is an example of what I'm talking about and the relevant common.js.

    Additionally I would use labeled section transclusion to include the specific table for each episode on the episode page itself (maybe between characters and trivia?). Since the table would be collapsed by default it would only add two lines (a section heading and the table header) without cluttering the page too much.

    The table itself would consist of the following fields: start timestamp, end timestamp, track title in romaji, source OST and a short description of the relevant scene.

    Also feel free to refuse any part of this if you think it would be too detailed for the wiki or for any other reason. I am going to post the list elsewhere anyways but I think the wiki would be a good place as well.

    • I noticed that the "Expand All" button doesn't seem to work if I'm not logged into my account. I suspect that the reason for that is that the script gets executed before the content of the page has finished loading. I tried it with a shorter page (Monogatari Series Second Season Original Soundtracks) and there everything works as you would expect. I have no idea why it works if I'm logged in.

      This should make sure the script only gets executed when the page is ready:

      // Expand
      var state =1;
      $(function() {
         $('#collapse-global').html($('<a>', {
             'class': 'wikia-button',
             text: 'Expand/Collapse All'
         })).click(function() {
             if(state ===0){
             $('.mw-collapsible-toggle-expanded').click();
             state = 1;
             }
             else {
                 $('.mw-collapsible-toggle-collapsed').click();
                 state = 0;
             }
            }
      )});
